The industry’s top rendering solution available as a standalone product for Autodesk 3D products.

mental ray® Standalone software is a high-performance rendering engine for generating photorealistic images. Although mental ray rendering technology is featured in Autodesk® applications such as Autodesk® Maya®, Autodesk® 3ds Max®, Autodesk® VIZ, and Autodesk® ImageStudio software, the standalone version is best suited when you have large volumes of data to process. It works independently of your 3D software of choice through a command-line interface. It can also act as the foundation of your distributed rendering solution when used with your Autodesk software. The choice is yours.

features:-
mental ray® Standalone 3.5 software continues to improve performance by offering faster processing time, greater stability, and improved handling of larger, more complex scenes.

New Features and Enhancements

New Final Gathering Modes
mental ray 3.5 now has four final gathering modes to improve image quality and ease of use.

Light Lists in Instances
Light lists have been added to geometric instances to offer a general, more flexible way to specify lights for illumination, and for improved control over shadow casting.

Catmull-Clark Meshes
Catmull-Clark polygon meshes are now part of mental ray 3.5. Catmull-Clark rules are used for this type of subdivision surface smoothing and also support mixed polygon types.

Per-Face Data Support
mental ray 3.5 introduces polygonal geometric object per-face data support, making it possible to attach arbitrary floating point data to primitives. In addition, objects can contain per-primitive data information.

Global Illumination
Optimizations to global illumination result in reduced memory usage in scenes with complex indirect illumination.

New Shader Libraries
Paint shader, Architectural Visualization shader, and other film production shaders libraries are now included as part of mental ray 3.5, helping artists achieve better results in less time.
